2 months into the closed season some of the TPG team decided to take a drive down to Thorpe Park and check out some of the work going on behind closed doors.
During closed season at theme parks, all roller coasters are inspected. Trains are stripped down to component levels and tracks are checked for cracks. With Nemesis being the oldest rollercoaster at Alton Towers it has had its fair share of work done to it.
Work on the star gazing pods is progressing nicely at Alton Towers, more pods have been installed since our last visit along with grass starting to be put down alongside some of the pods. Lighting poles have also started to be installed around the camp site.
Work on the Haunted House is looking great from the outside. With the park open for its Christmas event it gives us a great view of some of the work that's been happening since the park shut for the main theme park season.
Work continues on removing Hocus Pocus Hall at Chessington. Although not much can be seen from the outside of the building the queue line for the old attraction has now been removed along with an old shed building that used to make sounds when guests pulled on an old iron Levar.
Merlin has reintroduced a monthly payment plan for Merlin Annual Passes allowing customers more options when it comes to purchasing Merlin's pass to 32 UK Attractions.
Over the past few weeks, more of the Stargazing pods have been installed. Along with grass being laid in-between some of the pods. The toilet and facilities block is progressing nicely, we expect that in the next few days a roof will be adde
Work on removing Hocus Pocus Hall at Chessington has begun, the attraction closed at the end of the 2018 season and will be replaced with a new attraction called. Room on the Broom - A Magical Journey.
Yesterday signaled the end of the 2018 theme park season. Alton Towers put on a spectacular fireworks display on the lawns opposite the towers. With both days sold out the event was a huge success.
Work on removing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory continues at Alton Towers, the old pre-show to Charlie now looks to have been completely gutted ready for what will be the Alton Towers Dungeon.
